This course gives students a realistic, behind-the-scenes look at what studying business can lead to in the real world. Instead of focusing on theory or textbooks, it follows the day-to-day work found in a typical business graduate role, using Operations as a practical example to show how companies actually function.
Students explore how businesses manage everyday challenges like stock issues, supplier delays, customer complaints, and shifting priorities. Along the way, the course shows how different departments such as marketing, finance, customer service, and logistics depend on one another, and why communication and organisation are essential to keeping a business running smoothly.
The course also breaks down what business graduates are really hired to do. It highlights transferable skills such as problem-solving, decision-making, teamwork, and systems thinking, and explains why these skills are valuable across many roles and industries. Students learn that business careers are rarely linear, and that most graduates move between roles as they discover their strengths and interests.
