A Day In The Life: Electrician

Step into a typical day as an Electrician with our AI-powered ‘Day in the Life’ experience. Follow real tasks, challenges, and insights to see what this career is really like.

Course Description

This course brings students inside the real working world of electricians in Ireland, following two professionals at different stages of their careers. Through videos, walkthroughs, supporting text and quizzes, learners see what the job is really like: the tools, the tasks, the safety skills and the problem solving that keep homes, schools and businesses running every day.

Students start with Stephen, a qualified electrician with years of experience on the job. They explore how he prepares for work, stays safe, installs and repairs electrical systems, solves tricky faults and manages life as a self-employed tradesperson. They then meet Amy, an apprentice, to understand how the training route works, what study days look like and what the future of the trade offers for young people entering it today.

Across the nine modules, students get a complete picture of the career. They learn how electricians protect themselves and others, what really happens behind the scenes on callouts, the mix of hands-on work and careful planning involved, and the earning and progression opportunities available in the wider industry.

The course supports Transition Year exploration by giving students a grounded, realistic sense of the trade. It helps them see whether electrical work fits their interests, strengths and future ambitions.
