What does a teacher’s job actually involve, beyond standing at the top of a classroom?
This course follows a working day through the eyes of Jack, a primary school teacher, and gives students a practical, realistic understanding of what teaching is like. It explores the parts of the role that most people never see, including lesson planning, preparation, assessment, behaviour management, and the constant decision-making that happens during every lesson.
Students will also learn how teachers support pupils with different learning needs, supervise break times, communicate with parents professionally, and work closely with colleagues and school leadership as part of a wider team. The course highlights how teaching differs between primary and secondary settings, helping students understand the profession as a whole, not just one classroom.
Finally, it looks ahead to the future of education, including how AI is starting to shape teaching and learning, and what skills will matter most in the years ahead.
Each module includes a video walkthrough, a short text chapter, and a recap quiz to reinforce learning.
